The current Suzuki Swift (1324cc Petrol) debuted in Ireland in September 2005. In 2006 it snatched the honors at the Semperit Irish Car of the Year 2006 with the biggest winning margin in the history of the awards.Suzuki Swift scored very highly on Safety,Build Quality, Comfort, Driving Dynamics, Innovation and Value for Money.

In September of 2010 the Suzuki Swift received it's first "make -over" since it's launch in September 2005. The new Swift is 90 mm longer and 50 mm wider. It has a new 1242 cc (94 BHP) petrol engine producing 116 grams of CO2, which places it in Band A for VRT and motor tax.

 The new Swift has evolved with stronger fender flares, a new U shaped grille arrangement and vertical head and rear lights, along with a slightly wider shoulder. The overall effect is of seening a child become a teenager-- everything looks familiar but a little different. The new Swift is a clever advance, retaining all the best features of the outgoing Swift, but enhancing them. Standard safety features on all models include 7 air bags and Electronic Stability which has resulted in the Swift being awarded the maximum 5-star EuroNCAP score for safety.

The British Autocar magazine gave the Suzuki Swift a 5 star rating in their road test, judging it a "thoroughly impressive all-rounder ".
